smoothie bowlI’ve always loved my smoothies on the thicker side, so why not really go for it, and eat it with a spoon? The ground chia and flax form a gel so this recipe has a wonderful pudding-like consistency (experiment to find your preferred consistency). I use collagen powder as it dissolves fully – but of course use your protein powder of choice. For extra flavor and texture, I love adding coconut shreds, Stress-Adapt Herbal Pow[d]er, berries, paleo granola, and hemp seeds.

6-8 oz hemp, coconut, almond or brazil nut milk (learn how to make your own nut milk)
¼ avocado
1/3 frozen banana
1-2 dates, pits removed
1 small handful organic baby spinach
1 tbsp chia and/or flax seeds (best if ground)
1 tbsp hemp seeds
1 tsp Lily’s Divine Turmeric Paste
1 serving of protein powder of choice
1 + ½ tsp spirulina, Vitamineral Greens powder, or matcha powder (reserve 1/2 tsp as garnish)

Blend all ingredients including 1 tsp of greens powder until thick and creamy. Spoon into a bowl and swirl the remaining 1/2 tsp of greens powder of your choice into the center. Top with chopped nuts, berries, hemp or pumpkin seeds and enjoy!

  • If more sweetness is desired, add 1 tsp real vanilla and/or 1-3 drops organic liquid stevia.
  • The no-sugar version of this smoothie leaves out the dates and banana, and uses more cinnamon, vanilla, and stevia.
  • Use 1 tbsp nut butter if avocados are unavailable to you.
