Turmeric-Mango Lassi

turmeric smoothieAuthor: Lily Mazzarella
This delicious lassi side-steps the dairy with coconut yogurt, mango, and creamy nuts and seeds. If you don't have a batch of Divine Turmeric Paste this is a reason to whip one up (or use dried spices if you don't have time!). Turmeric stimulates the flow of bile, protects liver cells against toxins, and reduces inflammatory enzyme load in the body. What more do you need?

Ingredients

4-6 oz unsweetened coconut yogurt – So Delicious makes an excellent one, or you can make your own! (Combine coconut milk, an opened probiotic capsule, and an optional thickener like gelatin or agar. Mix ingredients and store 1-2 days in the fridge. Voila! Yogurt).

4 oz full-fat coconut milk
6-8 oz filtered water
4-5 chunks frozen or fresh organic mango
1 tbsp raw cashews
2 tbsp hemp seeds
1 tbsp chia seed
2 tsp Divine Turmeric Paste OR 1 tsp dried organic turmeric powder and 1/4 tsp each ginger + cinnamon
1/2-1 tsp vanilla
3-10 drops liquid organic stevia to taste (less if you have honey in your Divine Turmeric Paste)
1 serving protein powder of choice – we like Nutribiotic's Raw, Organic Sprouted Brown Rice Protein

Instructions

Place all ingredients in a high-speed blender and blend until smooth and creamy. Adjust for desired thickness.

This smoothie will thicken if you keep it overnight in the fridge due to the chia seeds. This is not a problem—you just might want to eat it with a spoon!
